Standard 3: Plan for and Implement Effective Teaching and Learning
Knowing the most effective way to teach and assess student learning is equally vital for student success. as a pre-service teacher I have effectively implemented a comprehensive learning sequence that involves a pre-assessment, content/concept learning and post-assessment structure. This has provided teachers and students with and used the 'OGER' framework to guide my lessons, this framework is based on four main stages of a lesson, the Orientation, Guided/ modelled stage, Exploration and Reflection. I have received positive feedback from colleagues and peers in regards to the effectiveness of my lessons. The success of these lessons has been gauged against students prior knowledge, participation in the lesson sequence and the resulting assessment results. I have provided evidence in the form of a mathematics lesson plan that supports how I successfully incorporate Indigenous perspectives, interactive, purposeful and innovative ICT activities and utilising various teaching strategies to ensure all learning styles and needs are catered for within the learning sequence.
I believe in establishing positive, open communication with parents and families. These connections bridge gaps between school and home, bringing families into the school environment which is particularly important for student engagement, accountability and motivationDuring my most recent placement I have had the opportunity to be involved in the development of a student ILP. During this meeting the student, family, teachers and other specialists were present and involved in the development of the students education goals.
